Joel Druivenga, 76, born to LaVine and Fred Druivenga on January 21, 1947, passed away June 17, 2023 with family by his side.
He graduated from ARWEVA high school then attended Iowa State University. He and his first wife Jeanette were blessed with Jason, #1 son, as Joel called him. When he married Jolene, he gained three more children.
He worked at First Mississippi for several years in Weaver, Iowa. He worked at the Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Department of Revenue, and retired in 2007 from the Department of Human Services. Many friends were made starting in elementary school that he has maintained a connection with.
He loved talking to his children, grandchildren, friends old and new, doing his crossword puzzles, Sudoku, Cribbage, Pinochle, Uker, watching Iowa State Cyclones, reading/listening to books and spending time with family and friends. He loved his chocolate, sweets, and especially Granny’s Sweet Freeze for an Arctic Swirl. In the past, he loved golfing and drinking a few adult beverages.
To honor his memory are, his wife Jolene, son Jason (Tiffany) Druivenga, daughter Mandy (Chuck) Quick, son Holden (Nikki) Barnhart, sister Lynette Hanthorn, brothers Alan (Donelle) Druivenga, Randall Druivenga, Dana Druivenga, and Marlon (Twyla) Druivenga; grandchildren, Miranda (John) Palmer, Jordan Quick, Brody Barnhart, Morgan Howard, Nick Barnhart-Quick, Briley Quick, Madison Howard, Theron Quick, Sawyer Barnhart and Kinsley Barnhart; great-grandchildren, Chevelle and Hudson Palmer; nieces, Taylor Druivenga, Satara (Scott) Fairweather and Melissa (James) Crowell; nephews, Paul (Ginna) Cates, Eric Cates, Shannon (Stacy) Druivenga and Nathan (April) Druivenga; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister Lorene Schroeder, son Bobby Barnhart and sister-in-law Debbie Druivenga.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date.
