John Alfred Krusenstjerna of West Des Moines, 87, passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on August 9th, 2023. John was born June 19, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa to Arthur and Velma Krusenstjerna.
John spent his early life in Odebolt, Iowa, where his “midwestern values” were instilled. Although he eventually left Odebolt, Odebolt never left him.
John graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1954, where he maintained lifelong friends. Immediately after high school, he entered the United States Air Force, where he honorably served in Korea. After his service, he enrolled in the University of Colorado during which time he met the love of his life, Beverly Faull. They married and later settled in West Des Moines, Iowa where they raised three children. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
John was an entrepreneur and a salesman to the core. John was proud of his Swedish heritage. Together, John and Bev enjoyed traveling including trips to Sweden for family reunions. John was a member of The Des Moines Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer and loved the game of golf, but his true joys were his family and friends. John was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church for 50 years and served on the board of trustees, eventually serving as chairman. John later joined Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. John was also a member of the Golden Kiwanis. John retired as President/Owner of United Warehousing and Logistics in 2014.
Left to cherish John’s legacy is his wife, Bev, and his three children: Jay (Barb) Krusenstjerna, Denise (Blair) Springer, and Becky (Marty) Doane. Grandchildren: John (Abbi) Krusenstjerna, Andrew (Jessie) Springer, Austin (Carissa) Krusenstjerna, Timothy (Jael) Burroughs, Stephanie (Brett) Larson, Daniel (Tabitha) Burroughs, Caitlin (Blake) Harlan, Kimberly (Mark) Krismanits, Robert (Whitney) Burroughs, Sarah (Ty) Henderson, Tyler (Hannah) Springer, Katie (Daniel) Krusenstjerna. John left behind 22 adoring great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-Law Diane (Bob) Naylor and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, his father in-law, mother in-law, sister In-law, and many cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, August 14th at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am. Tuesday, August 15th at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa. Live stream of John's service can be found at http://hopeonline.tv/specialevents . John will be interred at The Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to ChildServe , St. Jude Hospital, or Lutheran Church of Hope.
