John Alles - Winterset

John Keith Alles, 85, passed away on March 21, 2014 at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset, Iowa. John was a retired Iowa State Trooper and retired Assistant Chief of Police in Winterset. John was born near Orleans, Nebraska on March 4, 1929. He was the eldest son of John George Alles and Maude Davenport Alles. He was joined in marriage to Irma Jean Brand on June 4, 1946, and was blessed with five children, Karen Jean, John Stanley (Mary Louise), Robert Gene, Patricia Louise, and Sherry Ann. He was a huge supporter of the Winterset Community Schools and their athletic programs. He loved playing golf and woodworking, and especially spending time with family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Neal Stanley; infant daughter, Sherry Ann; and granddaughter, Michelle Dawn Alles. John and Jean are blessed with 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Winterset Community Church.
