John Fraser Dittmar, age 88 passed away in the early morning May 10, 2021. He was born on December 23, 1932 in Long Beach, CA. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During such time he served a mission in Nauvoo IL with his loving wife Jan P. Dittmar. He served in the Marine Corp from 1953-1957. He attended and played basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 1951-1952. He married Jenna L. Myers on December 25, 1957. He traveled extensively with his military parents as his father, Charles Arlington Dittmar was a Chaplin in the US Navy and while he served in the Marine Corp living in places like Guam, Japan, FL, CA, HI, WA, UT, IA, IL where he touched many peoples lives with his amazing sense of humor. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time on the links. It is impossible to sum up the accomplishments and experiences John achieved during his 88 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, first wife of 28 years, Jenna L Dittmar and grandson Kyle Welch. John is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Jan P Dittmar, son Evan F. Dittmar (Lisa), daughters Delese A. Oens (Richard} and JeNae A. Hill (Brandon), Sister Katherine “Kitty” Norton, and twelve grandchildren, Trenton C. Dittmar, Ashton Dittmar, Chloe L. Dittmar, Regan F. Coffey, Jaemon C. Hill, Cohen J. Hill, A. J. Grill, Tanner Grill, Drew Grill, Samantha Sanderson, Brad Sanderson, Scott Sanderson Funeral services are scheduled for 5pm on May 14, 2021 at the Walnut Hills Chapel , 400 Pleasantview Dr. Waukee IA, 50263. In lieu of flowers please give generously to the Animal Rescue League of IA arl-iowa.org. Internment will be held in Orem UT.
