John E. (Uncle J) Robbins

John Edward Robbins was born March 2, 1949 in Prole, Iowa; the son of Rollie E. Robbins, Sr., and Ruby Newkirk. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1968. On May 25, 1972 he was united in marriage to Diane Hulbert at the Methodist Church in Winterset. During his working career John worked construction as a labor foreman in and around the Des Moines area. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Robbins; and one grandson, Dakota Thomas. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. John was also a member of Labors Union Local #177, the Patterson Lion's Club, the Saddle Club, and the local Square Dance Club. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to go camping and fishing. He especially enjoyed his grandkids. John is survived by his wife, Diane of Patterson; two daughters, Jamie Thomas and husband, David of Patterson and Christy Robbins of Winterset; a brother, Rollie Robbins Jr., of Des Moines; a sister, Marjorie ‘Marjie’ Robbins of Patterson; four grandchildren, Johnathan, Tyler, Holden, and Robert; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. August 3, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday August 4, 2007 at Church of the Nazarene, Winterset, Iowa Memorial: Memorials contributions may be directed to the family.
