John Floyd Tully

John Floyd Tully, 61 of Johnston passed away suddenly Monday, July 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical with his wife Connie of almost 41 years holding his hand. John was born in Des Moines, IA to Ernest and Frances Tully on September 15, 1954. John is survived by his wife; Connie, children; Angela (Avis) Allen, James (Tara Frick) Tully, Greg (Brandi) Tully, and Brad (Stephanie) Tully from a previous marriage. 6 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and many cousins. John worked at what was then known as Mid Central Plastics for many years and then at Iowa Fire Equipment for the remainder of his career. John’s family was the most important thing to him. He was a fun outgoing person. John never met a stranger or a person he did not know. He loved to laugh, tease, and visit with his very good friends and family. John loved fishing, although he never brought any fish home for dinner. He also loved boating even though he never owned a boat. He just loved being near the water. In John’s younger years he also loved riding his Harley. He was always on the go, so his final wishes were to be cremated, so his ashes can fly where they wish. John liked to take quiet peaceful drives around Saylorville Lake watching for deer or any other wildlife. As a simple man John was very content on his back deck watching the bunnies play, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the clouds roll in. He was also a very big fan of the Iowa State Fair, never missing one. He vowed this year would be no different. God must have had a better plan for John. Although he didn’t attend church he told Connie he always said his prayers for everyone every night. His final wish would be that you say a prayer tonight for those you love and hold dear. A gathering will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home 8201 Hickman Road Urbandale, IA 50322. Memorials can be made to the Iowa Donor Network, the Iowa heart Association, or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
