John Joseph Beck of Nevada, formerly from Jefferson and son of the late Frank and Louise Beck was born on July 24th, 1964 in Jefferson, Iowa. John attended school in Jefferson and graduated from Montevideo High School in Montevideo, MN. All of his life John loved to tinker with things. It didn't matter what it was if it had to do with working with his hands and using his body John would go after it. John spent time in the US Navy and also worked for a civilian contractor in Iraq. He also managed a few rental businesses during his working years. John always believed in paying it forward and got great satisfaction from helping others. A portion of the list of John's varied interests and hobbies in his younger years included fishing, golfing, bowling, playing pool. John was a Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots football and Iowa State Cyclones sports fan. John enjoyed watching Star Trek and cop shows on TV and was a WWE wresting fan. John died August 24, 2017 at Story County Medical Center in Nevada at the age of 53 years and 1 month. Celebration of Life Service for John was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017, Hastings Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa. Sharing of Memories was done by Phil Beck. Honorary Memories were "His Nieces and Nephews" Recorded Music was provided, songs played were When I Get To Where I'm Going, Chain Of Love, Find Out Who Your Friends Are, and Go Rest High On That Mountain. Interment; John's burial next to his family will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa. John's family invited all to join them for lunch and fellowship at Clover Hall at the Fairgrounds after the service. John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Jim and sister Rebecca (Becky) Durbin. John is survived by his siblings: Colleen Gray of Perry; Pat Schiltz (Gary) of Jefferson; Bobbi Tarlton (Randy) of Johnston; Polly Parker (Don) of Bella Vista, AR; Phillip Beck (Rhonda Coil) of Bagley; Ken Beck of New York; Mary Book (Bill) of Bella Vista, AR; Therese Lohr (Stan) of Des Moines; Fran Bookwalter (Dan) of Ohio; and Maggie Thompson (Glenn) of Perry.
