John Patrick Rist

Services for John will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Inurnment will in Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2002 from 4 to 7 PM at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory with a prayer service at 7 PM. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. John Patrick Rist Sr., 57, of Des Moines, IA, died Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was born May 31, 1965 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Patrick and Leanna (Skultety) Rist. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School and went on to technical school to become a commercial plumber, eventually becoming a Master Plumber. John was a loving father, grandfather, son, and brother. He loved unconditionally and wore his heart on his sleeve. He would go to the ends of the earth for his family and friends. His laughs lit up a room, his smile made you feel at home, and his hugs filled you with love and warmth. John had a genuine and kind soul. He was an amazing cook, a jokester, and a very hard worker. He loved riding his Harley. It made him feel free, at peace, and as he called it, “his wind therapy”. He is survived by his children, Nick Rist, John Jr. Rist, Jordan Rist, Shane Ligammari, and RaeAnna Rist; grandchildren, Zayden and Kai Rist; father Patrick Rist; siblings, Jim (Mindy) Rist, and Ann (Shane) Guely; two dogs, Bubbles and Piper; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rist; and mother, Leanna Rist.
