John William Moorhead

John Moorhead, age 74 of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery at Coon Rapids, IA. Memorials will be given to Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. John William Moorhead was born on September 27, 1947, at Stuart, IA to Dale Delbert and Velma Arlene (Pearson) Moorhead. He attended the Guthrie Center High School. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid to Naval Ports during the Vietnam Conflict. John worked maintenance at Meadow Gold and Oscar Mayer and IBP, all in Perry. He enjoyed fishing, camping, car races, motorcycles, doing mechanical work, and hunting. In death he rejoins his parents Dale and Velma, son David Moorhead, brother, Dennis Dale Moorhead, and a sister Peggy Ann Beals. Left to cherish Johns memory are his stepchildren, Jodi (John) Defenbaugh, Rippey, IA and John (Amanda) Mitchell, step grandchildren, Brittany and Dalton Defenbaugh, siblings, Flora (Gary) Sinkuler, Perry, Maxine Bauer, Perry, June Elston, Perry, James (Ruby) Moorhead, Uvalde, TX, Donna (Art) Jesse, Poway, CA, Valerie (Troy) Griffith, Perry, and Penny (Chris) Carstarphen, Perry, and many nieces and nephews.
