Jon was born on April 6, 1986 to Roy and Sharon (Hackwell) Alliss in Des Moines, Iowa. He is a graduate of West Central Valley High School in 2005 and attended Des Moines Area Community College. He worked at the ethanol plant in Menlo for 14 years and most recently worked as an Operations Manager at Des Moines Industrial.
He married Angie Prochaska on October 27, 2021 at Easter Lake in Des Moines. The two of them met in March of 2016 making their home in Menlo until March of 2021 when they moved to De Soto. They both shared a love of nature, traveling, and camping but some of their best times were spent with family and friends.
Jon enjoyed playing sports growing up. He was a very talented soccer player, and also participated in baseball and cross country. Jon was a gifted photographer. He loved spending time with family and friends doing a multitude of activities; deer hunting, going to the gun range, attending demo derbies, rock climbing, and rock crawling to name a few. He was most at peace riding his Harley, feeling the wind in his beard . . . he couldn’t feel it in his hair because he didn’t have any.
Jon was an animal lover, with Chapo and Cici, the family pets, being the dearest to him. Jon adored kids, they were drawn to him, they must have seen his inner child shining through. He loved to make people laugh, he could dish it out and take it too resulting in a lot of laughs with family and friends. He had never met a stranger; he would talk to anyone and they’d part as friends.
His daughter Tinlee was the light of his life, the apple of his eye, they were two peas in a pod. They’d go rock climbing for hours, take a break to go eat sushi, edamame, and clear soup, and then go back for more rock climbing. They were a couple of snuggle bugs when they were relaxing around home. His phone is filled with pictures of the two of them; making silly faces and showing off their smiles that could light up a room. His loss will be felt deeply by his daughter, wife, family, and friends.
Jon is survived by his wife, Angie; parents, Roy and Sharon Alliss; daughter, Tinlee; step children, Nicole (Jordan) Gillaspy, Cody (Allison) Roberts, and Colton Roberts; sister, Kelly (Larry) Idle; parents-in-law, Dennis and Linda Meyer; step grandchildren, Joe Anderson, Maddix Anderson, Jaxson Gillaspy, Jamison Gillaspy, and Riley Roberts; aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Larry Jacobson; nieces, Tatum and Braylee Brittain; along with many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Goldie Hackwell; paternal grandparents, Walt and Lorraine Alliss; and aunts, Ginny Hackwell, Betty (Al) Wahlert, and Naidine (Raymond) Mortensen.
