Jonathan David May

August 22, 1984 — January 26, 2025

Virginia

Jonathan David May died on January 26, 2025 in the city of Ashburn, Virginia. His death came as a surprise to family and friends and all of us were saddened by his passing. He was predeceased by his father, Bill May, grandparents Eugene and Betty (Rothfus) Friedrichsen, William A. May and step grandpa Lyle Miller and Edith (May) Miller, Uncle Gary Friedrichsen and Aunt Jan Friedrichsen, and survived by his mother, Donna (Friedrichsen) Wells and his two brothers, Chad May and Derek (Myrna) May and their children: Connor, Anna Bella, and Benjamin; and, many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins from Iowa, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

In addition to his family, Jonathan loved his two cats, Nisha and Beesly. They are both prominently displayed with pride on his Facebook feed and are now in the loving care of his good friend and former roommate, Sharon Sielinski, who was also roommates with Jonathan when his cats were adopted.

Jonathan enjoyed playing video games with his brother, Derek May, and his friends, especially Alex Juring. Jonathan ran and completed several marathons and obstacle courses and was known for his physical toughness since he was a young boy. He participated in mixed martial arts and had several sparring matches in his early 20s.

Jonathan was an avid racquetball player and took the sport so seriously that he once shattered a plexiglass door in a desperate attempt to volley a ball played by his opponent. Jonathan's favorite partner for racket ball was, undisputedly, his friend, Greg Miller, and he moved closer to him in Richmond for more frequent matchups. Jonathan was a brilliant and creative sketch artist and graphic designer and his pieces were admired by thousands both online and in real life. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Art Institute of Washington.
