Jose Alex Mendez

Jose Alex Mendez was born January 20, 1993, in Kodiak, Alaska, the son of Jose Martin Mendez and Teresa De Jesus Argueta. He lived in Alaska for one year before moving to El Salvador (5 years), California, Minnesota, and Oregon until finally settling in Des Moines (where he lived for 20 years). He graduated from Hoover High School in 2012 and started to work in lawn care.


Alex loved life and spending time with his family, especially his 2 boys, Michael and Caden. They were his whole world. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, golfing, and watching the San Fransico 49ers and Real Madrid Soccer Club. He did not stray away from any type of gathering and was always the life of the party. Alex lived his life to the fullest and was always carrying a contagious smile, would make anyone laugh and be sure they were having a great time and uplift their spirits.


He is survived by his two sons, Michael Mendez and Caden Mendez; parents, Jose Martin Mendez and Teresa De Jesus Argueta; siblings, Laura Argueta (Melvin Lemus); Edwin Torres (Brittany Orsburne) and Patricia Mendez (Luna); nieces, Cindy, Alexandra, Emily Lemus and Lohna Orsburne, Leeya and Lillien Torres; Maria Imelda Rodas Vda. de Argueta; Mother of Caden, Katelyn Jessen, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.


Jose Alex was preceded in death by his Tio Toño, Abuelito Chico, Papa Juan, Mama Tona, Tio Koki, and Diane Jessen.



José Alex Méndez nació el 20 de enero de 1993 en Kodiak, Alaska, hijo de José Martín Méndez y Teresa De Jesús Argueta. Vivió en Alaska durante un año antes de mudarse a El Salvador (5 años), California, Minnesota y Oregón hasta finalmente establecerse en Des Moines (donde vivió durante 20 años). Se graduó de la escuela secundaria Hoover en 2012 y comenzó a trabajar en el cuidado del césped.


Alex amaba la vida y pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus dos hijos, Michael y Caden. Eran todo su mundo. Le gustaba pescar, viajar, jugar golf y ver a los San Fransico 49ers y al Real Madrid. No se alejó de ningún tipo de reunión y siempre fue el alma de la fiesta. Alex vivió su vida al máximo y siempre llevaba una sonrisa contagiosa, haría reír a cualquiera y se aseguraría de que la estuvieran pasando muy bien y les levantara el ánimo.


Lo sobreviven sus dos hijos, Michael Méndez y Caden Méndez; padres, José Martín Méndez y Teresa De Jesús Argueta; hermanos, Laura Argueta (Melvin Lemus); Edwin Torres (Brittany Orsburne) y Patricia Méndez (Luna); sobrinas, Cindy, Alexandra, Emily Lemus y Lohna Orsburne, Leeya y Lillien Torres; María Imelda Rodas Vda. de Argueta; Madre de Caden, Katelyn Jessen y muchas tías, tíos y primos.


A Jose Alex le precedieron en la muerte su Tio Toño, Abuelito Chico, Papa Juan, Mama Tona, Tio Koki y Diane Jessen.
