Joseph Cooley

Joseph “Joe” Cooley, age 79, of Adel, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel, with burial following at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Family will greet friends Saturday, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Joe was born on December 3, 1942 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, IA to Vernon and Gladys (McBride) Cooley. He lived in Greenfield before moving to Dexter, where he graduated from Dexfield High School in 1961. He worked at Perry Pork Plant, North Star in Adel and retired after 28 years, from Mid American Energy. He owned Rendezvous Lounge in Adel for six years. Joe bowled in leagues for many years and enjoyed playing cribbage with his many friends. He loved watching the Iowa Cubs & the Iowa Hawkeyes. Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Jodi Cook; his granddaughter, Hannah Cook; his grandson, Brecken Fryer; his sister, Sherry Spring; his nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys & Vernon Cooley; his daughter, Teri and his sister, Dorthy Freedline. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
