Joy Marie Williams, 93 went to join our Savior Jesus Christ in eternity on January 9, 2016 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa. Joy was born February 17, 1922 in Buxton, Iowa to Handy and Mamie (Simmons) Deering. Joy was educated in the Des Moines Public School System. She graduated from East High in 1940. She worked at the Armory building during World War II. Joy married John Duff and had one child, William Charles Duff. In 1946 she married Don E. Williams, they were married for 53 years and were blessed with 7 more children. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Howard, Loren, Ruby, Nimrod and Frank Deering, sisters; Agnes Jackson and Mary Frances Deering, 2 sons William Charles Duff and James Richard Williams, and daughter; Sharon (Williams) Gonzalez. Joy was a loving mother, grandmother, wife and aunt. She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking, and going to church. She was always praying, reading her bible, writing scriptures, and discussing Gods words with her children. She was baptized at an early age and was always trying to remain faithful to Gods word. Joy leaves to cherish in her memory, sons; David and Donald Williams, her daughters; Beverly (Don) McQuerry, Teresa (Tommy Sr.) Hawkins, Mary Martha Wilson, brother; Andrew Deering, Sister; Helen Hooper, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
