Joyce Hansen

Joyce M. Hansen was born on November 16, 1916 in Farnhamville, Iowa and died January 3, 2010 in Perry, Iowa at the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 18 days. Joyce was the daughter of Forrest William Bassett and Florence Crandell Farnham. She graduated in 1934 at Seneca High School and then got her degree in Business Education at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Eugene Hansen on June 4, 1944. She enjoyed teaching high school in Bouton. Joyce also kept busy through baking bread, pies, and cinnamon rolls, volunteering, gardening, canning, bowling, being an active member at Christ Lutheran Church, and traveling many places. She visited Europe several times, as well as Mexico and Hawaii. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and great-grandson, Zachary Michael Van Pelt. She is survived by: two daughters, Glory Knolmayer of Granger and Imogene Van Pelt of Woodward; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Tom) Bell of Solon, Jennifer (Jason) Clausen of Adel, and Matthew (Sarah) Van Pelt of Woodward; five great-grandchildren, Haley Jean Bell, Jace Thomas Bell, Mackenzie Bell Nelson (Gerry), Clint David Bell and Ellie Madison Clausen; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
