Joyce Irene Radebaugh, daughter of Odes E. Nelson and Lydia Davis Nelson, was born April 4, 1918 in Crothersville, Indiana, and died at the Greene County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit in Jefferson, Iowa. Joyce was 94. Joyce had been able to live on her own with the loving assistance of her daughter, Marilyn, until just two months ago. In 1919, when Joyce was a year old, her family moved to Rippey, Iowa where she was raised and attended school. On April 10, 1935, Joyce was united in marriage with Kenneth Russel Radebaugh in Jefferson, Iowa. They were parents of three daughters, Marilyn, Linda, and Janice. The family lived in Rippey before moving to the farm where they farmed for 25 years. In 1967 the couple moved to Boone, Iowa where Joyce worked at the Eastern Star for seventeen years. After their retirement, Ken and Joyce moved to Jefferson. Joyce and Ken had enjoyed dancing, often attending dances at Lake Robbins Ballroom, and liked to play cards with their friends. Joyce enjoyed her family, friends, and her home. Her hobbies included taking pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandsons, and maintained many photo albums. Through the years she enjoyed gardening and reading and thoroughly enjoyed eating out. She kept abreast of the news and watched CNN faithfully. The Iowa Hawkeyes were her favorite teams, however, when her special Hawkeye basketball player joined the Chicago Bulls, she was a loyal fan and loved Michael Jordan. Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson as well as the Greene County Historical Society. She treasured the friendships she made. Joyce endured much grief and loss during her years among us. Her parents preceded her as well as her husband Ken, two daughters Linda and Janice, brother Stanley Nelson, sisters Hilda Templeton and Edith Morse and her son-in-law Tom Bordenaro. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marilyn Bordenaro of Jefferson, Iowa; granddaughters Mary Fielder and husband David of Cedar Rapids; Joane Kein and husband Wayne of Gillette, Wyoming; Julia Bordenaro-Levin and husband Ira of Warwick, New York; grandson Tom F. Bordenaro and wife Tami of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren Dylan, Tanner and Tyson Bordenaro; Tiffaney Whitten and husband Andrew and their children Anthony, Tobyn, and Teagen; and Tawney Dettman and husband Mike and their children Cody and Morgan; sister-in-law Marguerite "Maggie" Radebaugh of Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
