Juan Norvell Smith (64) passed away on Feb 3, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Juan Norvell Smith was born on February, 22, 1959, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was raised and educated in the Des Moines area graduating from Des Moines Technical High School with the class of 1976. Juan went on to continue his post-primary education at a community college in Missouri. Throughout his work career he managed several restaurants in the Des Moines metropolitan area. Anyone who knew Juan, knew he was a diehard fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and that he had a lot of Chiefs memorabilia to prove it.
Juan is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Theodore and Anna Smith, uncles Timothy Smith, Theodore Smith and Ernest Smith.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Lauretta Major; father, Alfred Major both of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Terence(Paul)Major of Johnston, Iowa; sister, Leslie (Lamar) St. Clair of Des Moines, Iowa; and brother, Ronell (Jackie) Major of Powder Springs, Georgia. Aunts Gerald Jackson of Gladstone, Missouri and Patricia Rodriquez of Des Moines, Iowa as well as his uncle Aaron Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri. Juan also had several close cousins, nephews and a niece, as well as his ride-or-die best friend since childhood, Ralph Webber, of Phoenix, Arizona.
