Juanita Welch, 92 of Winterset died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Winterset Care Center South. A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 28 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 29 at Ochiltree Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery, rural Macksburg. Memorials may be directed to the family to determine the best use at a later time. Juanita Ilene Laurel Fischer was born in Viola Township in Sac County, Iowa on November 17, 1921, the daughter of Jacob and Gertrude (Sapp) Fischer. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1939 and went on to secretarial college in Omaha, NE at Commercial Extension. Her marriage to Estel Verle Welch took place on December 14, 1941 and to this union two daughters were born, Velva and Linda. When she was young her father owned a grocery store and gas station where she along with her ten siblings helped in the store. She later worked for AAA office in Rockwell City and moved to Madison County in 1950. Once on the farm in Madison County, Juanita was a homemaker and farmwife. Juanita was a member of Fellowship Church and attended the Macksburg Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Relief Corp in Macksburg; the Monroe Township Friendly Circle Club and for many years conducted the Good News Club for area children. Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Velva Cole (husband, Eldon) of Winterset and Linda Kafer (husband, Fred) of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren, DeAnn Luloff (husband, Tim), Mike Cole, Tim Cole (wife, Angella), Teresa Kafer, Sonya Kafer, and Aaron Kafer (wife, Pam); five great-grandchildren, Andrew Cole, Gracie Cole, Ruby Kafer, Lucy Kafer, Sophia Kafer, Niki (Jerry) Downing, and Chad Luloff; two great great-granddaughters, Ava and Mia Downing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Estel who died on December 23, 2010 and nine siblings.
