Judy Ellen Conklin

Judy Ellen Conklin, daughter of John Peter Lawton and Isabelle Lydia Gibbons Lawton, was born May 17, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa and died May 1, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 20 days. Judy lived with her family in Cooper for a time and then lived in the Paton area, graduating from Paton High School in 1959. She attended Beauty School in Des Moines and worked for a time as a beautician. On November 11, 1961 she married Richard LeRoy Conklin in Ogden. They were parents of two children Richard Jr. (Rick) and Angela. Judy and Richard lived in Cedar Rapids, Ogden, Grand Junction, Paton, Dana, Jefferson, Boxholm, and Clear Lake. After Richard' death, Judy moved to Gowrie to be near her family. Judy enjoyed watching birds, weaving, T.V., loved her dog Taco, and computer games. Lately she had enjoyed sending text messages to her grandchildren which they loved. In addition to her husband Richard; Judy was preceded in death by her father John Lawton; her step father Dwayne Godwin; her sister-in-law Lila Lawton; granddaughter Michelle Gibson; and great grandson Casey Gibson. Judy is survived by her mother Isabelle Lawton Godwin of Jefferson; son Richard L. (Rick) Conklin Jr. of Harcourt; daughter Angela Gibson (Ned) of Gowrie; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, Logan, Carson, and Ava; brothers Dr. Jim Lawton of Boxholm; and Jerry Lawton (Cheryl), of Ft. Dodge; brothers-in-law Lyle Conklin (Linda) of Ogden; Robert Johnson of Berkley; and sister-in-law Bev Williams (Bernard) of Perry; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
