Julie Anne Gilliam was born to John Henry and Patricia Ann (Mills) Gilliam on September 13, 1963, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Des Moines in the Beaverdale area and attended Holy Trinity Catholic school and Hoover High School. In her adult years she earned her GED with determination on her own merit.
Julie was a dedicated and compassionate individual, who devoted her life to helping others as an in-home healthcare provider, as well as a housekeeper. Her kindness and empathy left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched throughout her career. Her elderly clients loved the little extra things she would do, like bringing fresh cut flowers to brighten their day. She was fond of decorating their houses for the holidays as well. Julie also loved her time working at the portrait studio in Younkers. She truly put her all into everything she did.
Julie was a strong independent woman, and an amazing inspiring mother, always doing the best she could for her daughter. She was selfless and had a big heart, willing to help anyone at a moment's notice. Julie was the embodiment of what it means to be of “good character”.
In her freetime, she loved spending time doing arts and crafts and when she was younger, excelled in ceramics. And of course, she especially loved spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her parents John Henry Gilliam and Patricia Ann (Mills) Gilliam-Gaston.
Left to her cherish her memory is her loving daughter Madison Taylor Gilliam, step-father and true father figure, Robert Gaston; sisters, Sue Poock, Barbara Henning, Lisa Tschopp; nieces, and nephews Jessica & John Henning, Delaney Poock Clark, Allie Poock, Joe Tschopp, & Samantha Anderson; great-niece, Audrey Henning, and great-nephew, Sean Clark, as well as a host of close personal friends.
