Justin Bickford

Justin Shane Bickford, 30, of Clive ended a 6 year struggle with brain cancer on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospice - Johnston. Justin loved Jesus and that was evidenced daily as he lived his life generously, peacefully and joyfully. Justin taught us that happiness is a choice, that your legacy is not in what you have but in how you love. He loved all of us well and we are so proud to be his family. Justin grew up in Des Moines and attended Roosevelt High School and Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. He spent his summer breaks working at various Christian camps around the country. Until recently, he worked at Mercy West Clinic. Justin is survived by his mom, Beth Janson, his brothers Josh (Hannah) and Jason (Tammy) and his four precious nephews and nieces; Jaxon Shane, Miriam, Lexi and Max, all of whom considered him their best friend. He is also survived by dad Terry (Saundra), sisters Trinity and Siobhan, brothers Colyn and Dwayne, Grandparents Jo Hill and Arnie (Mary) Hill, plus numerous family and friends. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 16 at 10:00 AM, Celebration of Life Service at 11:00, luncheon at 12:00 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, IA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you pass along a blessing to make someone feel loved, in honor of Justin. We can't wait to hear your stories.
