Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Burial: McDonald - Chase Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa immediately following services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn celebrating. Visitation will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 from 2:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset; where family will be present to receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the McDonald-Chase Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Katherine Genevieve Bruns was born January 6, 1922 in Madison County, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Jennie (Hill) Bruns. Her marriage to John Melroy took place on June 14, 1939 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. After their marriage, they lived in rural Adel until 1963 when they moved back to Madison County. Genevieve was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winterset and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a dedicated farmer’s wife and greatly enjoyed her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Patty Krueger and husband, Roger of Dawson; Kathy Book and husband, David of Minburn; Marjorie Van Mourik and husband, Bernard of Napa, California; a daughter-in-law, Pat Melroy of Winterset; three sisters; Mary Williams of California, Peggy Paige of California and Dorothy (Tom) Kennedy of Minnesota; 17 grandchildren, (Theresa, Doug, Melody, Tony, James, Sheryl, Natalie, Pamela, Denise, Thomas, Natasha, Petrissa, Alexei, Saskia, Angela, Heidi, and Chad;) and 34 great grandchildren, (Bridgette, Joshua, Cody, Jason, Chelsea, Tatjana, Toby, Cam, Kyle, Kelsey, Colin, Katherine, Logan, Alena, Campbell, Raquel, Genevieve, Caroline, Nathan, Xander, Arden, Kaven, Bennett, Leighton, Cortni, Mekayla, Austin, Brenden, Dylan, Alaric, Tala, Remy, Justice and Tristan.) She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; her son, John E. Melroy, 4 brothers, Paul, Bobby, Joedy and Jack Bruns; one sister, Betty Campbell; and two grandchildren, Mary Book and Roger Krueger Jr.
