Katherine Virginia (Ginnie) Stehman, 87, passed away on November 4, 2021. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Birmingham, Michigan, to Francis Lloyd and Laura Bonita (Bonnie) “Curtis” Roberts. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington DC in 1953, and attended University of Syracuse in 1954, and University of Arizona in 1955. Virginia lived an eventful life. Over the years Virginia volunteered in the Emergency Department at the Arlington Hospital which is now called Virginia Hospital Center. She previously sang in the choir for the Cherrydale United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia. She later attended the Falls Church Anglican Church. In Falls Church, Virginia. She served the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) with Williamsburg Junior High School in Arlington, Virginia, as well. Ginnie also worked as an Administrative Assistant for several organizations, such as QuestTech, Inc, Battelle, and M Rosenblatt & Son, and early in her career she worked for Chance Vought Aircraft, a friend of President Eisenhower. During that role, she had the honor of playing a role in adding “Under God” into the Pledge of Allegiance which President Eisenhower had requested. Ginnie was known for having several “mysterious” dings on her car. The only revelation she made with respect to these “dings” was when she drove through two trees to avoid having to pass a moving van parked on the street. When she was deciding on what retirement facility to move to, she picked Deerfield Retirement Facility located in Urbandale, Iowa, because the Marketing Director strongly resembled one of the Property Brothers (HGTV). She had a loving dog who was a famous face of white fur around Deerfield. Her name was Bebe. She loved playing tennis and later watching televised matches, especially her favorite player Andre Agassi. She also enjoyed watching golf and football and she was an avid Washington Redskins fan. She watched football up to the week of her passing. Virginia also enjoyed playing card games such as bridge and solitaire.
