Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Marshall passed away on September 23, 2024, at the age of 74.
Kathy was born to Thomas and Dorothy Strode on April 1, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the first of six children. Kathy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, where she attended St. Pius X Catholic School and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1969.
Kathy married John Carl Marshall on January 5, 1990, in Des Moines. They spent their lives together in Adel until John’s death on February 10, 2017. John, a Marine Corps veteran, was the love of her life, and she often talked about how proud she was of his military service.
Kathy was a long time and beloved member of the De Soto Calvary Baptist Church. She attended services anytime the doors were open and was a faithful member, known as a prayer warrior for her church family. She loved cats, Faith Hill, the color green, and her Irish heritage. Kathy made sure everyone received greeting cards for birthdays and thank-yous and thinking-of-yous. And, she was never one to filter her thoughts, leaving anyone who knew her entertained.
Kathy is survived by three children and their families: Raymond Banks; John Parcel; and Coleen Carper. She leaves behind her five siblings, Dennis (Peggy) Strode, Eileen (Kevin) Kehoe, Rick (Vivian) Strode, Margaret (Jeff) Berry, and Mary Strode Pals, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Kathy in death are her husband, John Marshall; and her parents, Thomas and Dorothy Strode.
