Kathleen Mary Walker was born on June 14, 1945 in Carroll, Iowa to Clifford Arthur Remund and Rita Clare (Hook) Remund. Kathleen grew up in Coon Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Annunciation Catholic High School in 1963. Then she went on to college at Northwestern Missouri State College. Kathleen was united in marriage to Robert Weddle on October 10, 1964 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. The couple was blessed with four children: Joe, Andy, Aaron, and Kerry. They made their home in Perry and then Scranton. She worked at Scranton Manufacturing as a bookkeeper, and MacDonald Insurance as a licensed agent. Kathleen married Gene Walker on February 15, 1992 at St. Paul Catholic Church. She loved his children and grandchildren as her own. Kathleen helped Gene with the bookkeeping at the farm until he retired. The couple moved to Jefferson and enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Kathleen liked to crochet, draw, cross stitch, and was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed shopping, and loved getting her fingernails and hair done. Kathleen died on January 6, 2024 at Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and both of her husbands. She is survived by her children: Joe Weddle (Tracy) of Minburn, Andy Weddle (Kathy) of Johnston, Aaron Weddle (Bridget) of Grinnell, and Kerry Hastings (Craig) of Perry; six grandchildren: Shane Williams of Davenport, Corinne Hastings of Des Moines, Caleb Weddle of Nevada, Libby Hastings of Perry, Halli Weddle of Minburn and Avalyn Weddle of Grinnell; three great-grandchildren: Jack, Harper, and Brynn; brother David Remund of Kansas City, MO; sisters Judy Snyder (Dale) of Aurora, CO, and Pat Thomas (David) Fort Myers, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at St Josephs Catholic Church in Jefferson, Iowa. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial took place on January 20, 2024 at the Coon Rapids Cemetery in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson was in charge of these arrangements.
