Kathy Greif

Kathy Greif, 73, of DeSoto, passed away on April 27, 2021 at Independence Village in Waukee. Kathleen Ann Nichols was born in Des Moines, Iowa at April 29, 1947, the daughter of Donald and Lois (Monagon) Nichols. She graduated from Adel DeSoto High School in 1963 and later married Ronald Greif on January 8, 1966 at the DeSoto United Methodist Church. Kathy was a homemaker and also worked for Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing slots and would frequent Lakeside and Prairie Meadows casinos. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and liked doing crossword puzzles in her free time. She enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses. Her favorite trip was to Arkansas to visit family. Kathy also loved gardening and flowers. She is survived by her sons, Kevin and Brian Greif; sister, Connie Carter; niece, Sarah Black; nephew, Travis Carter; four great nephews; one great niece; and many cousins and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Services will be held later this summer. Memorials may be made to Suncrest Hospice and/or Independence Village.
