Keith Lee Dahl, 77, of West Des Moines, was welcomed home to God in the morning of Thursday, July 25, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit. He was born August 8, 1940 to Paul Lee Dahl and Jeanette Hammer. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1959. He was a stage manager, student council, swimming manager, gym leader and on the decoration committee. After working in restaurants, he joined the Army and was a military policeman on the Navy Pier in Chicago from 1963-1965. In 1965, he was united in marriage to Lora on November 27th. They were blessed with two daughters. Keith was an entrepreneur and became a self-employed paint contractor. He enjoyed Sunday breakfasts, boating at Birdland Marina, Fishing trips with friends, restoring wood boats and traveling with Lora to casinos, near and far out of the way restaurants and most of all, spending time with family. Keith is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Lora Dahl; daughters, Shirley (Jim) Tucker, Dana Hutzel; sister, Patricia (Ed) Schuling; grandchildren, Barret (Maggie) Tucker, Audrey (Stephen) Kahler; niece, Jennifer (Troy) Trostel; nephew, Travis (Amanda) Schuling; and four great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, Iowa 50322. Military funeral Honors will be held at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa on Monday, July 30, 2018 promptly at 9:30 a.m. The family will host a luncheon at the American Legion 910 Main Street, Van Meter, Iowa immediately following the ceremony. “How Swede It Is”
