Kelly Boatwright

Kelly Boatwright, 52, of Winterset, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 10, 2023.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Kelly Wayne Boatwright was born January 6, 1971 to Walter and Mary (Davis) Boatwright.

Kelly’s daughters, grandkids, dogs and friends meant the world to him. He was rarely seen without a smile on his face. To say he was kind, caring and funny would be an understatement; his laughter was contagious. Whether big or small, short or tall, hairy or bald, Kelly cared about everybody. He didn’t have a lot but his friends were abundant.

He loved morel mushroom hunting every year with his youngest daughter, and taking spontaneous trips out of state with this oldest daughter, but the time spent together as three was treasured most. Kelly was world-renowned for not holding back his opinion, and had a knack for telling it like it is. He will be sorely missed.

Kelly is survived by his daughters, Tricia Boatwright of Patterson and Mikayla Nixt of Creston; brother, Richard Boatwright of Knoxville; sisters, Barb Watkins of St. Charles and Betty Boatwright of Brighton; five grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Everleigh, Lily, and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
