Kenneth Netherton

Kenneth Larue Netherton, son of Lloyd Ellsworth Netherton and Nora Effie Wilson Netherton, was born January 25, 1918 in Bagley, Iowa and died September 15, 2011 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 93. Throughout his life, Kenneth was fondly called "Red". He grew up on his parents' farm near Bagley and attended school in Bagley. On September 20, 1939, he married Marjorie Blanch Borst at Adel, Iowa. They were blessed with 72 years of marriage. The couple along with their children Jerry and Sharon lived in the Bagley ~ Jamaica area where they farmed. They moved to the Perry area where they farmed until he retired in 1982. Kenneth always enjoyed his life on the farm where he raised livestock and raised crops. Through the years he also enjoyed painting with his brother Clyde. When not farming, he enjoyed fishing and carpentry. Kenneth and Marjorie were faithful members of the First Baptist Church where he frequently ushered and served as Deacon. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Alice Louise in November of 1941, brother Glen, sister and brother-in-law Lucille and Loren Kendall, brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Marion Netherton, brother-in-law Robert Leber, and nephew Harold Kendall. Kenneth will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marjorie, son Jerry Lee Netherton and wife Debby of Perry, Iowa; daughter Sharon Kay Barreras of husband Rome of Henderson,Nevada; 4 grandchildren Ryan Barreras and wife Dee Dee of Eugene, Oregon, Tanya Barreras Campbell and husband Mike of Eugene, Oregon; Jennifer Netherton Kilts and husband Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; and Brian Netherton and wife Melissa of Carlisle, Iowa; 15 great - grandchildren; brother Donald Netherton and wife Barbara of Loveland, Colorado; sister Madonna Leber of Altoona, Iowa; sisters-in-law Mary Borst of Norwalk, Iowa; and Vivian Conner of Perry, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
