Kent Leroy Knoll

March 20, 1951 — May 14, 2024

Kent Leroy Knoll, 73, of Adel, IA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at his home.

Kent was born in Des Moines, IA on March 20, 1951 to Ivan Knoll and Lola (Wicks) Knoll. He was raised alongside his sister, Gayle, and his two brothers, Burke and Bruce. He attended ADM schools for several years, and continued to cheer on the Tigers all throughout his life. He was even inducted into the the ADM Hall of Fame as their biggest fan, an honor that Kent was proud to display.

Kent was known as someone who was full of life. He loved taking advantage of any opportunity life had to offer. He enjoyed going to country concerts with his siblings, cheering on the Hawkeyes, and going out to dinner or to the mall with family. If there was a celebration or a reason to get together, Kent would always be there. He was also a long standing member and pillar of Panther Creek Church of the Brethren in Adel where he made many lasting friendships. Thanks to the help of his electric wheelchair, Kent was able to enjoy all that the town of Adel had to offer, and was a regular attendee of the Sweet Corn Festival and loved going to the local rodeo. He also looked forward to going to the Iowa State Fair every year and doing all of the fair activities.

Thanks to the caretakers at Mainstream Living, Kent was able to spend time at home while still receiving the support he needed. When Kent was at home he enjoyed working on his computer, doing research and keeping his siblings informed about the family’s medical history. He loved his Diet Mountain Dew and Cheetos. He was known by many for his quick wit and sense of humor, and his ability to never let his disability determine what he could do.

Something that Kent held close to his heart was his time spent at Camp Sunnyside every summer. He looked forward to it every year, and had a blast participating in all of the activities the camp had to offer. His favorite activities were making crafts, going on boat rides, and swimming in the pool. The entire Knoll family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the folks at Camp Sunnyside for helping Kent create amazing memories. Kent will be remembered as an incredible brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish Kent’s memory are his siblings, Gayle (Richard) Arnburg, Burke (Robyn) Knoll, and Bruce (Beth) Knoll; his nieces and nephews, Dustin (Marcy) Conover, Wade (Ashley) Conover, Rachel (Bradon) Knoll, Kyle (Cassie) Knoll, and Cole Knoll; as well as 7 great nieces and many close friends.

A visitation for Kent will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren in Adel. A service will take place the following day at 10:30 am also at the church. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
