Kim Johnson

Kim Johnson, 48, of Winterset, passed away unexpectedly at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines on Monday, March 21, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com. Kimberly Nicole (Kerns) Johnson was born on October 2, 1973 to Ronald and Valarie (Comp) Kerns in Winterset, Iowa. She attended Winterset High School and graduated in 1992. She went on to become a CMA and CNA, and worked for nursing homes around the area. She married Kenneth Johnson on February 14, 1998 in Winterset. Kim enjoyed shopping, especially for purses, and getting her nails done. When the weather turned nice, she would love to get outside and fish. Kim was also a great caregiver and had a heart of gold. She enjoyed working with her clients at the nursing homes and also taking care of her father, Ron. Giving and caring was second nature to Kim. She was a devoted wife to Ken and was like a mother to her niece and nephew. She loved her family and will be extremely missed. Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Helen Comp, and Fern Kerns; and her two dogs, Jedo and Boseefus. She is survived by her husband, Ken; parents, Ron and Val Kerns; niece, Brooklyn (Mike) Mason; nephew, Colton (Brandy) Kerns; brother, Bart Kerns; parents-in-law, Keith and Sandy Johnson; sister-in-law, Kellie (Mike) Peebler; great nephews, Drake and Blayne Mason; and great nieces, Peyton and Preslee Mason.
