Kimberly Kay Kurtti, daughter of Betty Jean Thompson and Dean Arnold McDowell, was born September 8, 1960 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and died August 17, 2007 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 46 years, 11 months and 9 days. Kim attended school in Jefferson and Perry, graduating from Perry High School in 1978. She then attended college for two years at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Kim worked as a Resident Treatment Worker/Certified Medical Aid for the Woodward State Hospital School for 27 years. She had lived in the Woodward area for many years. Her biggest love was her family and especially her nephew and nieces. Kim enjoyed collecting clowns, swimming, the outdoors, tubing, rock collecting, antiquing, and working crossword puzzles. She loved all music, especially Blues and Jazz and attended many concerts. Her many friends were very important to her. Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her parents: Dean and Betty McDowell of Perry, Iowa; her sisters: Debbie McDowell of Ankeny, Iowa; Tammy Wirtz and husband Jeff of Ogden, Iowa; Barbara Hawbaker and husband Tony of Panora, Iowa; Susan Norris and husband Howard of Grimes, Iowa; Deana Lowe and husband Jeremy of Des Moines, Iowa; her beloved nephew and nieces:Amber Hawbaker; Shannon and Samantha Wirtz; Matthew and Jessica Norris; and Emily and Maci Lowe; her uncles George Thompson and wife JoAnne of Lincoln, Nebraska; Clifford Thompson of Ogden, Iowa; her aunt Donna Thompson of Paton; many cousins; other relatives and many, many friends.
