Kimberly Kaye Algreen, 58, of Earlham, died with her family surrounding her on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. A visitation with family present will be held Thursday, January 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to HCI Care Services Kavanagh House and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Kimberly Kaye Bricker, daughter of Dr. John and Mary LaVonne (Jeffryes) Bricker was born December 16, 1958 in Ames, Iowa. She attended school in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1977. She went on to attend the Mercy School of Nursing graduating in 1982 becoming a Registered Nurse. Kimberly was united in marriage with Philip Algreen on February 26, 1983 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield and three daughters were born to this union. During a majority of her working years she was a nurse at Mercy Medical Center where she rose to the positon of Unit Manager of 8 South. She also worked at the Des Moines Blood Center and later as a Hospice Nurse. In her final years of nursing, she worked with Alzheimer and dementia patients. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and cooking. Kimberly loved to shop, not for herself but for others. Her family recalls how she was always in search of that ‘perfect’ unique gift. She also loved to decorate her home with antiques and for the holidays. All this said, Kimberly enjoyed nothing more than the time she was able to spend with her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Philip Algreen of Earlham; three daughters, Alex Algreen of Clive, Sydney Algreen (fiancé, Spencer Hunter) of North Liberty, Jordyn Algreen of Earlham; eight siblings, John A. (Jeri) Bricker of Iowa City; Barbara Hill of Windsor Heights; Nanz (Gary) Barnes of Lynnwood, WA; Christy McCormick of Rome, GA; Lance (Pam) Bricker of Runnells; Tamara Leckband of West Des Moines; Sandra (Tom) Sandvig of Des Moines; Steven (Patti) Bricker of Greenfield; sister-in-law Gerry (Bruce) Sheriff of Windsor Heights; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Kimberly was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John Jr. Bricker and Mary LaVonne (Jeffryes) Bricker; brother, Jeffrye Kent Bricker; brothers-in-law David Hill and Steve Leckband.
