Kirsten K. (Nelson) Stonebarger

Kirsten K. Nelson was born in Iowa City, Iowa on May 10, 1963, the daughter of Jim and Pat (Ryan) Nelson. She graduated from Winterset High School and later served her country in the U.S. Army. She is survived by her children, Ashley Nelson of Detroit, MI, Haley Stonebarger and Colton Stonebarger, both of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Alyssa Nelson of Detroit, MI; parents, Jim and Pat Nelson of Winterset; sister, Stephne Nelson of Winterset; brothers, J. Scott Nelson of Fresno, CA and Ryan Nelson (Magdalena) of Hastings on Hudson, NY; nephews, Bill and Dan Landis; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kirsten was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing sports, especially track and softball. She loved angel figurines, enjoyed drawing and cherished the time she spent with her children and granddaughter. Kirsten died of renal failure May 11, 2008 at her home in Winterset. She was 45. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., May 14, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset, Iowa. Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset, Iowa.
