Kurt Wilkerson

Kurt E. Wilkerson, 54 of Des Moines passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Kurt was an avid sports fan. He loved Duke basketball,the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Kurt graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1982. He received his BA in Broadcast Communications from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1987. After graduating Kurt worked for Heritage Cable Company as a production supervisor. Where he also traveled with the Drake Football Team as the sports camera man. Most recently Kurt worked as a bartender at the Yacht Club.Which he referred to as the "Boat". His yacht club family was very dear to him.He was always the life of the party and made sure everyone around him was smiling.He was Silk Wilk,The Mayor,Teammate,Kurty. Kurt is survived by his five brothers, Tony, Chico, Marshall, David and Bartlett Wilkerson.Four sisters Sylvia Blake, Jerri, Dawn and Rhonda Wilkerson.Also his many nieces, his favorite niece Charel and nephews,who affectionately called him "Unc". He also leaves many cousins,aunts,uncles and so many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Wilkerson Sr., his mother Jessie D. Wilkerson and his brother Maury D.
