Larry Herron, age 87 of Linden, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at his home near Linden, IA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the West Linn Cemetery near Linden. Memorials will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, and St. Croix Hospice and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Larry Estel Herron was born on August 6, 1936, at Linden, IA to Raymond Elsworth and Lillian M. (Mobley) Herron. He graduated from Linden High School with the class of 1954. He served in the United States Air Force from January 3, 1955, to February 27, 1959. He was united in marriage to Kay Kiser at Richmond, IN on June 1, 1957. He was a mechanic for Salocker Automotive, worked at North Central Public Service, all while farming. He started farming with his dad with a wire planter and horses. He now farmed with GPS guided equipment. He got his pilots license in 1964 flying single engine visual rules. He took more classes and obtained his multi engine instrument rating. He took his family on many flights as well fellow farmers to see their fields. One of his greatest joys was raising cattle. In death he rejoins his wife Kay, parents Raymond and Lillian Herron, daughter, Camilla Sheeder, and an infant daughter Christine. Left to cherish Larrys memory are his, children, Cheryl (Scott) Williams, Fayetteville, AR, Cynthia (Andy) Miner, Perry, IA, and David Herron, Minburn, IA, grandchildren, T. J. (Christina) Williams, Jonathan (Remmy) Williams, Elizabeth (Matt) Hix, Rebecca Miner, Victoria (Joshua) Shelledy, Amanda (Clint) Funk, and Benjamin Sheeder, great grandchildren, Thomas, and Amiya Williams, Adalynn and Wallace Hix, Judson Shelledy, and sisters, Nancy Metz, Spearfish, SD, and Jean Wrigley, Evergreen, CO.
