Larry H. Kirkland, Sr.

Memorial: Larry Hilton Kirkland, 53, of Winterset, died of lung cancer on December 9, 2007 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Winterset; his son, Larry, Jr. and his daughter, Erica Jo, both of Winterset; his mother, Delia Kirkland of Clemson, South Carolina; a sister Rhonda Clark of Central, South Carolina; three brothers, Deno, Ronald and Randall Kirkland, all of South Carolina; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hilton and a brother, Kenneth Kirkland. Larry was born January 23, 1954 in Edinburgh, Indiana, the son of Hilton and Delia (Cowan) Kirkland. His marriage to Linda Hilden took place in Marietta, Georgia in 1984. He lived many places including California, Alaska, Alabama, Colorado, South Carolina, and Georgia before moving to Winterset, Iowa, where he made a home and raised a family. Larry was an over-the-road truck driver and owner/operator for 23 years, leasing out to United Van Lines agencies of McCollisters and Barrett and the independent agency of CLS. He loved the road and he loved his family and friends.
