Larry Lee Houseman, son of Lorenzo Dee Houseman and Minnie Mae Ashcraft, was born September 4, 1935 in Bouton, Iowa and died in Des Moines, Iowa of pulmonary fibrosis on December 18, 2008 at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 15 days. Larry lived and went to school through eighth grade in Gardiner, Iowa. He graduated from Perry High School in 1953 and took classes at DMACC. On June 21, 1964, Larry married Margaret Ellett and moved to Gardiner, Iowa for 8 months before moving back to Perry where the couple remained. He was father of three children, Janice, Lisa, and Mark. Larry worked as a feed salesman for Purina and Walnut Grove Feed Companies. He then worked as a Custodian at the Perry Jr. High School until he retired. Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, NRA, Perry Gun Club, Coon Valley Bass Anglers, and United Methodist Men. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and a little league coach. Larry enjoyed his computer, hunting, fishing, guns, attending tradeshows, woodworking, and most of all, his family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother Lester, and infant brother Richard. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Perry; Daughters, Janice Clark (Jerry) of Springfield, MO and Lisa Willis (Barry) of Perry; son, Mark Houseman (Lura) of Clive; 7 grandchildren: Kyle, Kayla, and Kendra Clark, Cory and Megan Willis, and Abigail and Ashley Houseman; mother-in-law, Veva Ellett of Perry; sister-in-law, Peggy Houseman of Bouton; brother-in-law, Gary Ellett (Judy) of Perry; other relatives and many friends.
