Laurence was born January 8, 1938 to Rolly and Frances Dittmer in Lacona, IA. He was the youngest of six children. Laurence graduated from Waukee High School in 1957. He started farming after graduation and continued for 60 years until his death. He was a proud farmer, enjoying and watching his crops of corn and soybeans grow to harvest. The cow-calf operation was a success involving his daughters as they showed cattle for 4-H. He started LBD Farms and his trucking business which grew to five semis within six years. Favorite times where with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spoiling them by taking them to Walt Disney World over the last 20 years. Lake of the Ozarks was an annual 4th of July trip. The most fun was being together and playing cards. Laurence had good luck at his favorite casino games. Laurence is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Larry) Krugler of Adel and Carla (Bob) VanderLinden of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lee, Madeline and Robert; and his siblings, Marcus, Ann and Colleen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolly and Frances and his siblings, Wilbert and Rita. Donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left on this site.
