Laurie Lynn Dawes, 43 of Adel, Iowa went to live with Jesus on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from complications related to ALS. She was at her home surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 from 3:30-6:30 P.M. at New Hope Church in Adel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at New Hope Church. Following this service, a burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Laurie was born on June 9th, 1978 to Ron and Pam Tryon in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Adel and graduated from ADM High School in 1997. Laurie began her college education at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska. She studied nursing and had a successful softball career while on scholarship at Midland University. She completed her college education at Grand View University in Des Moines where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing degree. She went on to work at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Orthopedic Outpatient Surgery Center of DM and for the last 15 years she worked at Wolfe Eye Clinic. Laurie greatly enjoyed her interaction with patients and co-workers. She continued working as a sales consultant online for Rodan and Fields. In August 2002, Laurie was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Colby Dawes. This friendship began in preschool and blossomed throughout the years. Together, they were blessed with two boys, Braylon and Bryce. Laurie's greatest joy was spending time with Colby and the boys and watching them compete in a variety of athletic events. Laurie enjoyed participating in sports all her life. She was a four sport athlete in high school and continued to participate in recreational sports along with Colby. Her competitive nature was passed onto her boys. Their family was often found together, cheering on the Hawkeyes and other favorite teams. As the boys got older, she and Colby loved watching their activities and rarely missed an event. She also loved to scrapbook, water and snow ski and the thrill of locating the perfect treasure while junking. She had a caring heart and loved animals of all kinds. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Peg Tryon; Loyal Wine and Nina Rutherford Wine. Laurie is survived by the following all from Adel: her husband, Colby; her two sons, Braylon and Bryce; her parents, Ron and Pam Tryon; brother, Scott (Laura) Tryon; sister, Kristi (Brad) Fuller; parents-in-law, Nick and Peg Dawes; brother-in-law, Beau (Amie) Dawes; nieces and nephews, Mackenzie (Josh) Johnson, Briley Tryon, Carter Tryon, Gage Fuller, Zachary Fuller, Leah, Blake and Lane Dawes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to LD Strong Inc. This nonprofit group was founded by Colby and Laurie Dawes to assist and benefit others with expenses due ALS or other debilitating circumstances.
