Laverne Gordon

LaVerne E. Gordon, 94, formerly of Des Moines for more than 75 years, left this earth in Tallahassee, FL on Nov 26 to receive his heavenly body and join his family and friends who have gone before. He was preceded in death by Frances Dahl Gordon, his wife of 70 years and Richard Dale Gordon, his son, and all of his siblings, Leta Dawson, Velma Bieghler, Elsie Grant, Thomas Gordon and Ronald Gordon. He was born May 21, 1922 to his parents, Roy E. and Jessie Pearl Gordon who have since passed away. Mr. Gordon served in the US Army; following WWII he worked as a pressman at Meredith Publishing for 30 years and Graphic Co. before retiring. He is survived by sons, Jack (Candy) of Wheaton, IL and Kenneth (Carol) of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ryan) Lewis, Holly (Christopher) Lundgren, Troy, Michael and Keri Gordon, 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, December 1 at Westchester Evangelical Free Church, 4919 Aurora Ave, Des Moines; visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
