Lela Louise Glover went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on April 10, 2023.
Lela was born to Rex and S. Louise Glover on August 9, 1933 in Ansley, Nebraska. Her early childhood years were spent on the family ranch in Dry Valley, Nebraska.
The family moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska when she was quite young. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1952. She then relocated to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph Hospital and attended Grace Bible Institute. She graduated from Grace in 1958. After graduation she returned to Broken Bow and worked as a nurse's aide at Broken Bow Hospital. She was also hired by the newly formed Berean Fundamental Church to develop curriculum for their children's ministry. During this time her faith in Jesus Christ became especially real and personal to her. She was a charter member of the church.
She returned to higher education and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree in 1966 from Kearney State College, Kearney, Nebraska. After graduation, she moved back to Omaha and taught 2nd grade at Saratoga School, Omaha Public Schools, until her retirement in 1995. During the mid-1980s she saw the value of computers in the classroom as a teaching tool. So in order to increase her skills and knowledge of the use of computers in the classroom she enrolled in Lesley College where she graduated with a Master of Education degree in 1989. Lela valued higher education and persevered through financial hardships in order to complete her education.
She was a member of Christ Community Church, Omaha, Nebraska. After retirement she spent many hours volunteering in many capacities at the church. One of her greatest joys was comprising a weekly Prayer & Praise newsletter, summarizing prayer requests from missionaries all around the world. She continued to do this until she was in her mid-80s and could no longer attend services in person.
In September, 2022, due to declining health and the need to be closer to her care-giver sister, Virginia, she moved from an assisted living facility in Omaha to a care facility in Urbandale, Iowa. She was lovingly and skillfully cared for by the staff of Deerfield Retirement Community where she lived her final days.
She is survived by her brother, Rex David Glover (Charlene) of Omaha, Nebraska, her brother, Paul Glover (Charlyn) of Spencer, Iowa, her sister, Virginia Lors (Tim) of West Des Moines, Iowa, her brother-in-law, Byron Clark (Ana) of Garland, Texas, 12 nieces and nephews, 4 step nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marjorie Clark, and her nephew, Brian Glover.
