Lena C Gosek

Lena C Gosek, 95 of Des Moines, IA, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 with a visitation beginning at 12:00p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines. A private family burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hills & Dales, 1011 Davis St., Dubuque, IA in memory of Lena Gosek and in honor of Jeremy Neswold. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com Lena was born in Soveria Mannelli, Italy on September 24, 1926 to Enrico Pascuzzi and Franchescine (Marasco) Pascuzzi. She came to Des Moines at age eight and attended Catholic schools. She married John Gosek in 1945 and was a devoted wife and mother, who cherished her time with her family and friends more than anything. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for 60 years. Service, Prayer, Love and Laughter – these are the words that describe Lena. She was always looking after others, caring for her husband who had cancer, a young daughter who died from heart disease and a grandson born with Cerebral Palsy. Her destiny was service to others and doing God’s work. Her rosary was always near. Joy, laughter, music and dancing were also a big part of Lena’s life. One of her most memorable times was a trip back to Italy with her daughter and granddaughter for her 80th birthday. Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Sam and Angelo Pascuzzi; daughter Liz Gosek; and grandson John Tyler Neswold. Her legacy lives on in her daughter Mary Jane (Jim) Allgood; grandchildren Erin Woolsey and Jeremy Neswold; great grandchild Jordan Bailey (Ilya) Kritskiy; great-great grandchildren, Mikayla, Ezekiel, Sofia and Oliver; her sister Santina Stanfel; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
