Leona M Ferris

Leona Marie Edinger Ferris was born December 12, 1919 in Cathay, North Dakota. She passed away March 19, 2016 in Adel, Iowa into the presence of her Lord and Savior. Leona graduated from St. Andrews Nursing School in Bottineau, ND and retired as an RN from Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Leona is survived by her children Robert (Carol) and Deanna Rothwell; sisters Bernice and Selma, brother Kenneth (Mavis), and sister-in-law Elaine Edinger; two grandchildren Jonathan (Jessica) Ferris and Amanda Ferris, great-grandchild Ellie Ferris, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Todd”; parents Robert and Pauline (Huber) Edinger; siblings Irene, Alice, Robert, Donald, and Paul; and son-in-law David Rothwell. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to TeachBeyond fbo Amanda Ferris or His Mansion Ministries.
