Leota Fern Kendall, daughter of Fred J. Heuton and Edna Alice Piper, was born November 18, 1918 in Scranton, Iowa, and died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 11 days. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Church of Christ, in Jefferson, Iowa. Words of comfort were delivered by her sons Jerry Kendall, Church of Christ, Pittsburg, Kansas and Howard Kendall, Mr. Bruce Webster Church of Christ, Jefferson, Iowa and other speaker Don Schilling. Honorary Casket Bearers were her grand children including Billy Kendall, Charlie Klinkefus Jimmy Kendall, Howie Currier, Terry Shriver, Joe Shriver, Barry Kendall, Jonah Kendall and Jeromy Antonen. Her Casket bearers were Ted Shriver, Dale Grubbs, Randy Antonen, William Kendall, Richard Currier, Clint Shriver, Jason Grubbs and Danny Currier. Congregational songs were Above The Bright Blue, Take My Hand Precious Lord, And Under His Wings. Song leader was Marvin Clothier. Burial was at the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa. Leota Kendall was born in rural Scranton and attended school at Jefferson. On November 27, 1935, she was united in marriage to William Lewis Kendall, spending all of their married life in Jefferson, Iowa. Leota and Lewy were the parents of ten children: William Lewis Jr.; Sarah Ann; Edward Hubert; Samuel Victor; Estella Alice; Jerry Russell; Howard Merle; Dorothy Marie; Jon Hurley; and Nola Noren. She worked at the hospital as an aide and enjoyed crocheting. Leota loved painting pictures and writing poetry, one of them, Dear loved ones, for me do not weep, As I go to the worlds final sleep, For I long to waken on that lovely shore, There to dwell with my Lord forevermore. Leota Fern Kendall 5-2-87, was used in her funeral folder. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jefferson, Iowa. Leota was preceded in death by her parents; one stillborn twin son; 2 miscarriages; her husband, William "Lewy" on July 16, 1993; three sisters, Vivian Stanley, Edith Griffith, Lucille Childer; four brothers, Ed, Melvin, Verlin, Elmer; two grandsons, Lewis Klinkefus and Vincent Klinkefus; one daughter, Estella Alice Shriver on May 4, 2002; and two sons, William Lewis Jr. on December 19, 2005; and Edward Hubert on March 10, 2007. She is survived by three daughters, Sarah Currier of Jefferson; Dorothy Grubbs (Dale) of Dawson; and Nola Antonen (Randy) of Perry; four sons, Sam of Jefferson; Jerry (Judy) , of Pittsburg Kansas, Howard (Rita), of San Antonio, Tex. and Jon (Petra); of Broken Arrow, OK. daughter-in-law Gail Kendall; of Gibbon, Neb., 32 Grandchildren; 20 Great-grandchildren; and 11 Great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Everyone was invited back to the Church of Christ, for a time of lunch and fellowship after the service at the cemetery.
