Leroy Everett Gillman, 81, of Earlham, passed away on January 6, 2025 at his home.
Leroy was born on October 27, 1943, to R.G. and Merle (Ivins) Gillman in Polk County, Iowa.
He graduated from Corydon High School, and then served in the National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He then went on to work for Dahl’s Foods for 47 years where he retired as a warehouse manager.
On May 29, 1966, Leroy married Charlene Nickerson at Clear Lake, Iowa, and to this union were born two children, Todd and Sheri.
Leroy and Charlene moved to their place in rural Madison County in 1972. He loved working in the yard and keeping everything looking nice.
He was the proud collector of Covered Bridge Coins; and was honored to own the complete set.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Charlene; his son, Todd (Barbara) Gillman of Knoxville, TN; his son-in-law, Galen Monroe of Little Rock, AR; his brother, Ron (Victtoria) Gillman of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister, Linda Gregg of Corydon, IA; his grandchildren, Bethany (Michael) Burch, Jason Gillman, Genny Abella-Gillman, Alexandra Gillman, and George Gillman; and great grandchildren, T.J. Ragan, Deacon Gillman, Dean Nichols, and Athena Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents; R.G. and Merle Gillman; his daughter, Sheri Monroe; and his brother, Neil Gillman.
