Lewis Clifton Hazlewood, Jr. of Johnston, Iowa died March 12, 2015 at the age of 58. Lewis was born August 13, 1956 to Lewis Sr. and Mildred (Martin) Hazlewood in Nashville, TN. Lewis grew up in Murfreesboro, TN and joined the US Army at age 18, and proudly served for more than 12 years. Lewis graduated from East Tennessee State University and moved to Iowa in 1987, where he made a home with his wife Joan and their three kids. Lewis above all loved his family. He always enjoyed attending his childrens school activities and sporting events. He loved annual fishing vacations with family. Lewis worked for the US Postal Service for more than 20 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a devoted member of St. Pius X Church. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A Rosary service will be at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil service at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale. Burial will follow in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Lewis is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Sam, Nick and Sarah Hazlewood; mother, Mildred Hazlewood; sisters, Jeanette (Herbert) Kermick and Suzanne (James) Chen; brothers, Martin and Randall Hazlewood. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hazlewood Children Education Fund, Charter Bank 5526 NW 86th St. Johnston, IA 50131 for a college fund for Lewiss children.
