Forget that I ever had heartache and remember I've had loads of fun. Forget that I've stumbled and blundered and sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles and won, ere the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day, but in summer just gather some flowers and remember the place where I lay, and come in the shade of evening when the sun paints the sky in the west. Stand for a few moments beside me and remember only my best. Linda Kae Nelson was born November 22, 1948 to Robert and Darlene (Stogsdill) Nelson. Linda was an only child. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967. Linda married her friend and partner in life, Gene C. Weaver on May 17, 1969. This was after two months and one week of dating. Linda felt it was love at first sight for both of them. They were parents of four children, Michell Ann Weaver Ballard, Grant Eugene Weaver, Scott Robert Weaver, and Wendy Lynn Weaver Greenwood. Linda and Gene were blessed with two daughters-in-law Laurie Weaver and Jennifer Weaver and two sons-in-law Michael Ballard and Ryan Greenwood. Their family grew with the births of ten grandchildren: Colby Bishop, Michael Ballard, Madison Weaver, Cody Ballard, Gracen Weaver, Josey Weaver, Micah Ballard, Marena Ballard, Karena Ballard, and Addison Greenwood. Linda would soon have been thrilled with another grandchild to be born to Wendy and Ryan. All of her family and friends were very special to her. Her grandkids held a special place in her heart and she doted on them. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Darlene Nelson; granddaughter Karena Ballard, son-in-law Michael Ballard, grandparents John and Julia Nelson and Paul and Nona Stogsdill, aunts and uncles Dr. Orman Nelson; Roscoe and Darlene Nelson, Cleta and Walter Bowman, Vera and Calvin Stogsdill, Letha and Clarence Dennhardt, and cousins Eldon Nelson and Terry Burger. Linda loved being in the sun, soaking up the rays. Being on a warm beach or swimming were what she considered to be a part of heaven. In the cold seasons, while in Iowa, Linda would rather sit by the wood burner stove, either crocheting or writing poetry. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, children and grandchildren, cousins, including Donna Nelson of Jefferson, other relatives and many friends. Memorials in her name sent to Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson.
