Linda Lee Thaves

Linda Lee Thaves, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the age of 75. Linda was born March 5, 1943, to Leland and Esther (Hansen) Thaves, in Spencer, Iowa. Linda was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Algona. At the early age of 2 years old, Linda became very sick with encephalitis, leaving her with a disability which she had the rest of her life. During her life, she was associated with The ARC in Des Moines for many years. After losing her parents, she lived at Exceptional Opportunities in Burt, Iowa. When she needed more care, she moved to Crestview Nursing home in Webster City, Iowa, to be near family. Linda had wonderful care throughout her life. Linda was an avid Iowa Cubs fan, and when her father was alive, they never missed a home game in Des Moines. Linda was named Iowa Cubs #1 fan in 1969, and was featured in the Des Moines Register. She also was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Linda had a great sense of humor, and always had a certain smirk on her face when she could best someone. She loved to tease people and loved being teased. She had a good rapport with everyone she came into contact with. Linda is survived by her cousins, Corrine Hoeppner of San Diego; and Sandra (Frank) Pruismann of Blairsburg; and many second cousins, who loved her dearly.
