Linda Rae Pittman

Linda R. Pittman, 72, was born September 9, 1946 in Boone, Iowa to Jerome and Etta Free. She passed away at her home in De Soto on December 5, 2018. She was raised in the Perry area by Alma Heck and was a graduate of Perry High School in 1965. Linda married Darwin Pittman on November 4, 1966 in Perry. Together they had two children, Douglas and David. They raised the boys in Panora, where she supported them through all of their activities and rarely missed an event. Linda perfected her cooking skills in Panora while working at several restaurants including the West End Café, The Port and Brill’s. However, her true calling was in helping and caring for people. She spent several years working at the Woodward State School and Hospital. She was employed at Genesis Development in Adel where she provided selfless service and devotion to her clients. Through the years, Linda enjoyed bowling, bingo, puzzles, sewing and was always working on a craft project. The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandkids where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Pitt.” Linda’s favorite time of the year was the Christmas season. She loved seeing the excitement of her grandkids and spent many hours baking candy and goodies for her family and friends. She was very proud of her grandkids and will always hold a special place in their hearts. She is survived by sons, Douglas (Anne) Pittman of Overland Park, Kansas and David (Kelly) Pittman of Adel; as well as four grandchildren, Dylan, Katie, Dakoda and Drew; and several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her guardian parent and her siblings, Kay Araballo, Judy Engretson, Jerry Free, Joanne Becker and Mike Free. Visitation will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 from 4-6 P.M. with a Celebration of Life following at 6:00 P.M. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-McCalley Chapel, Adel.
